Campfire Scrambled Eggs Recipe

Campfire Scrambled Eggs

Summer and camping. No two things seem to fit better! Whether it's family backpacking trips, Boy Scout camp adventures, or simple overnight fishing trips, we can all agree that summertime is, well, camping time!

If there is anything I love more than camping, it would have to be campfire food! Whether it's roasting marshmallows, baking up warm tin foil dinners, or even just grilling a thick steak over an open flame, there's something about that smokey taste, combined with the outdoors, that makes everything right in the world. Prepare that food in a Dutch Oven or Cast Iron Skillet, and, well, you've got a meal that rivals even the finest four star tasting cuisine.

Corn & Quinoa Whole Grain Salad Recipe

Is there anything better on a summer day than a fresh salad? That crisp texture. Those fresh grown vegetables. And, of course, that delicious, flavor infused, vinaigrette topping! With all this and more, it's no wonder why the salad has become such a popular summer time dish.

Chicken Mango Wonton Bowls Recipe

Tasty and healthy. Those are two words your rarely hear in the same sentence. In our day of deep fried, Grab-N-Go eating, tasty and healthy seem to be complete polar opposites. Separated for all time by the notion that food that is healthy simply can't taste good.

So here's one of my favorite breakfast options.  Carrot cake cookies. My kids call them cookie-cakes. I'm the hero. I give my kids cookies for breakfast.

Sweet Corn, Black Bean and Avocado Fiesta Cups

It is official. Chef Tess is in Summer-party mode.  Summer is about getting together and having wonderfully Fan-tabulous Wing-dings and Fun-fests with your darlings. Isn't it? I love a good party and I love a good niblet for a good party that I can prepare enough ahead that I can still enjoy the festivities with all my sweethearts. I also think there should be some healthy goodness at a party that won't make me feel guilty for days after I eat it. Ya know what else? I think everyday should be a party! I don't think you need to have anyone coming to visit except your own family to celebrate and eat well.

Zucchini Corn Patty Recipe

With my kiddos- sometimes we need to find a way to disguise our veggies! Lately I have been having a fun time experimenting with ways to do this. I tried this recipe and my 4 and 2 year old thought they were "cookies" and each ate 2 or 3! SUCCESS- in my book!! Their favorite "dip" was sour cream. And in case you were wondering they taste a lot better than they look. So no judging until you try them!

Book Signing Preview: Southern-Style Creamed Corn and Sausage Recipe

Have you had a chance to pick up your copy of The Gourmet Food Storage Handbook yet? Written and compiled by Stephanie Petersen, or as our Honeyville followers have come to know her, Chef Tess Bakeresse, this handbook is the perfect guide on how to transform your food storage into delicious, shelf stable meals and recipes that the whole family will enjoy!

In anticipation of her upcoming book signing at our Chandler, AZ store, Chef Tess herself has sent over one of her favorite recipes to give our taste buds a peak of what can be found in this all new cookbook. Here is what the Bakeresse herself had to say about this recipe: "I think the ultimate sweet and savory combination has got to be sausage and corn. The first time I tasted Honeyville Freeze Dried Corn, I was transported by its sweet flavor, in my mind, to my childhood. Dad would grow corn in the family garden, and many times I could be found hiding in the tall stalks, sitting in the dirt, with my cute little girl hands wrapped around a freshly shucked corn cob. I loved that sweet flavor."

Chicken Taco Chili Recipe

It's been a while since I have made and posted an actual meal! It's also been a while since I even cooked a meal for my family! It feels good to be getting back into the swing of life and back on a schedule. I love "winter" meals! I love getting to eat something warm while I know it's chilly outside, then to curl up in a blanket and enjoy the heater and warmth of a house. Hope you are enjoying some "wintery meals" and maybe this one will make the menu this week.

Stuffed Peppers Recipe

Confession: I can never make the right amount of rice.  I tend to over estimate and then what do you do with the leftovers?  Problem solved my friends with this recipe. Another bonus to this recipe is that it is full of veggies that you could easily adapt to your family's preferences.

Vegetarian Burrito Bowl Recipe

If any of you are like me, at about 2 p.m. today, the massive sugar crash of Halloween will hit hard and by 3 p.m. you'll be left in a daze, wondering why the thought of downing 25-30 of those snack-sized candybars ever sounded like a good breakfast!

While the pains in our stomach are still churning and the stains of melted chocolate are still on our fingers, I thought that if there was ever a day to post a nice, healthy meal using some of our great Honeyville products, that day was today. Though this is listed as a Vegetarian Meal, you can easily add beef, chicken, pork, turkey, or any other meat that your soul delights in. So, without further adieu, I give you Vegetarian Burrito Bowl.

Comforting Fall Foods from Honeyville

Do you love fall as much as I do? The smell of fresh apples, crisp air, and autumn harvests. The beautiful colors, changing leaves, and cool temperatures. Warm sweaters, trick-or-treaters, Friday night High School Football games. The sights, smells, and sounds of fall are all around, and with this officially being the second day in October I thought it would be a great time to talk about the other sense we love during fall – the tastes!
After months of hot weather, fall is our first taste of those warm meals we’ve been wanting since the end of July! Today we’re going to focus on some of the wonderful products we have here at Honeyville that can help all of us get in the Fall mood. They may even become some of your traditional favorites each time fall rolls back around.
