Banana Upside Down Cake
















Bananas. What is it about this fruit that we love so much? Is it the delicious taste? Is it the amazing texture? Or is it the fact that you can bake it into pretty much any cake, cookie, or bread, and get a sweet, mouth-watering dessert?

For me, bananas are best enjoyed baked into your favorite treat. That's probably why I found myself pulled toward today's recipe. Any time you can bake up a soft, light, fluffy, and oh so delicious cake, you know you're in for a surprise. But when you can add that sweet, amazing taste of bananas in it? That surprise just became oh so savory!

We took our amazing, versatile, and extremely tasty Freeze Dried Bananas and baked up a dish that is sure to be a huge hit in your home, no matter what time of year. Simply, easy to bake, and with amazing results, this cake recipe is one you'll want to keep in the family cookbook. Grab a mixer, it's time to bake up our Banana Upside Down Cake!

Ingredients (Topping):
1/4 cup Butter
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Bananas

(Cake):
1 1/2 cups Honeyville Alta Artisan Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Himalayan Salt
1/2 cup Butter, softened
1 cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 cup Sour Cream

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large, heavy sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat. Once butter is melted, add brown sugar and let simmer, constantly stirring, for 3 minutes until thick and smooth.

Pour into your USA Pan Hearth Bread Pan. Next, take freeze dried bananas and line in pan on top of the caramel topping you've just created.

Now, begin your cake. First, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and whisk together until completely combined.

In a large bowl, with your electric hand mixer, beat together butter and sugar until soft and combined. Add eggs, vanilla, and sour cream, and beat until fully combined.

Add your dry ingredients to your wet ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms.

Gently pour batter into your pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Remove and allow cake to cool in pan for 5-10 minutes, then turn upside down on a plate, slice and serve.

This cake has all the taste and texture you can handle, and then some!
