Imagine a delicious, energy-boosting snack. What would it be made with? How would it taste? What would be the main ingredients used to make it?
Did you know that you can make a delicious, mouth-watering energy bite with black beans? Yes, you heard me right, black beans! I know, I know, when it comes to snacks, black beans are probably the last thing you think of. But packed with protein, fiber, and heart-healthy nutrients, black beans are the perfect ingredient for any quick energy boost!
Today's post features a recipe that not only includes our super versatile black beans, but also our Blanched Almond Flour, Raw Honey, and Baker's Cocoa Powder. These bites are vegetarian and completely gluten and grain free! Oh, and they taste absolutely amazing! Get ready, it's time to make up some Chocolate Black Bean Energy Bites!
1/2 cup Honeyville Blanched Almond Flour
1 1/2 cups Honeyville Black Beans
3/4 cup Honeyville Organic Peanut Butter Powder
1/4 cup Raw Honey
1/4 cup Honeyville Baker's Cocoa Powder
3/4 cup Water
Yields: 12-14 bites
First, cook your beans. In your Fagor Pressure Cooker, add black beans and 4 cups of water. Cook at "High Pressure" for 30 minutes. Once cooked, release pressure, drain excess liquid, and let beans cool.
Next, in your BOSCH Food Processor Attachment, add almond flour and beans and mix together until smooth.
Add peanut butter powder, honey, baker's cocoa, and water, and mix together until a thick paste forms.
Roll paste into golf ball sized balls, place on a USA Pan Cookie Sheet, lined with parchment paper, and place in refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow bites to set up.
Do not be fooled by the name or appearance. These bites are actually very tasty! The delicious combination of the honey, peanut butter powder, and cocoa powder, give these bites the perfect blend of sweetness. The beans give you all the fiber and protein boosting energy your body needs to get through the hectic day. Best of all, these bites are vegetarian and gluten-free. Substitute the honey for agave nectar, and you have a vegan recipe as well.
There really isn't anything beans can't do, especially when it's our amazing black beans!
