Chia Quinoa Donuts
















Healthy Donut. Does that sound like an oxymoron? Are those two words so polar opposites that the mere use of them in the same sentence sends chaos and fear into the hearts of treat lovers and health food junkies alike?

Why can't a donut be healthy? Why can't we have all that whole grain goodness baked into these sweet, cake-like treats? Why must we always choose between what tastes good and what's actually good for us?

No more people! Today, we take our health, and our snacks back. Today, we prove that you can have your healthy donut, and eat it to! Today, thanks to our organic chia seeds, organic quinoa, almond flour, and oat flour, we show that a donut can be both healthy and tasty! Today, we are baking Chia Quinoa Donuts!

Ingredients:
1/2 cup Honeyville Oat Flour
1/4 cup Honeyville Blanched Almond Flour
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 cup Raw Organic Chia Seeds
1/4 cup Honeyville Organic Quinoa
1/3 cup Pure Maple Syrup
1/3 cup Almond Milk
1 tsp Vanilla

Pecan Frosting:
3/4 cup Pecans
2 Tbsp Coconut Oil
1 Tbsp Pure Maple Syrup
1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
3-5 Tbsp Almond Milk

Yields: 6 donuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

In a large bowl, combine all your donut ingredients. Mix until ingredients are fully combined and you have a very runny batter.

Next, pour spoonfuls of batter into your greased Norpro Donut Pan. Fill each donut cup about 2/3 with batter.

Bake at 300 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove and let cool in pan for 5 minutes, then turn out on a cooling rack, and let cool completely.

While donuts are cooling make your pecan frosting. In your BOSCH Food Processor Attachment, combine pecans, coconut oil, maple syrup, and powdered sugar. Pulse and add almond milk while ingredients are pulsing together until you get a smooth frosting.

Pour frosting into a pastry bag and pipe over the tops of the donuts. Let set up, then serve.
