Gluten-Free Chocolate Hazelnut Cake Recipe


Chocolate Hazelnut Cake














I love guilt free desserts, don't you? Whatever the recipe or creation, so long as it contains all the delicious, knee shaking taste that makes us melt, I'm hooked! Add some dark chocolate in the mix and, well, I simply can't resist.

One treat I'll never turn down would have to be chocolate cake. There's nothing better after a long, stressful day, than a warm slice of chocolate cake, washed down with a tall glass of ice cold milk. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it! So imagine if you could have everything you love in cake, without all the guilt associated with it. Too good to be true? Not possible you say? Oh, it's possible, all thanks to a new Honeyville ingredient - Hazelnut Flour!

That's right, using our new Hazelnut Flour and a little bit of dark chocolate, we were able to create a sinfully delightful cake that is not only guilt free, but gluten-free as well! You heard me right, this recipe is completely gluten-free, but the best part is you won't be able to tell by the taste! It's time for some Chocolate Hazelnut Cake!

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups Honeyville Hazelnut Flour
2/3 cup Sugar (you could also use Stevia)
6 Eggs, separated
1/2 cup Butter
1 cup Cacao Chips

Topping:
1/2 cup Cacao Chips
1/2 cup Heavy Cream

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Melted Chocolate











In a double boiler, melt chocolate and butter together until full combined and creamy. Remove from stove and allow to cool.

Eggs and Sugar











In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until creamy.

Eggs and Hazelnut Flour











Add hazelnut meal and mix together until combined.

Hazelnut Mixture and Chocolate











Once chocolate is cool, pour over the top and mix together.

Whipped Egg Whites











In a separate bowl beat egg whites until stiff, glossy peaks begin to form.

Fold egg whites into cake batter until fully combined.

Cake Batter











Pour batter into a greased cake pan.

Baked Cake











Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out cleanly. Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then on a cooling rack for an additional 40 minutes.

Whisking Chocolate











While cake is cooling, make your topping. In a sauce pan bring heavy cream to a boil, then drop in cacao chips. Whisk together until mixture is creamy.

Frosting Cake











Pour over the top of the cake, then smooth out with a spatula. Slice and serve.
