TVP Veggie Burger Recipe

















So many people are starting to fire up their grill this time of year. We all look forward to cooking out and spending time with our loved ones. The normal items on the menu include hamburgers, hot dogs, maybe even corn on the cob. All this grill talk had me thinking about what alternatives are available for my health conscious friends.













TVP veggie burgers are a great, heart healthy alternative with plenty of protein and vegetables to keep your energy up. And best of all, their completely meat free! Check out this simple recipe and try it for yourself.

Ingredients:
2 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
4 Tbsp of Olive Oil
1 1/2 cups Veggie Broth or Water
3 Tbsp of Soy Sauce or Liquid Aminos
1/2 tsp Oregano
1/2 tsp Paprika
2 tsp Mustard
1/4 tsp Liquid Smoke
1/2 cup Honeyville Oat Flour

Yields: 6 Burgers.

Directions:
In about 4 Tablespoons of oil combine onions, mushrooms, carrots, and garlic.












Cook for about  five to seven minutes.












Add 1 1/2 Cups Veggie Broth or Water, 3 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce or Liquid Aminos, 2 Tablespoons of Tomato powder, 1 Cup Textured Vegetable Protein, 1/2 Teaspoon Oregano, 1/2 Teaspoon Paprika. Cook until all liquid is absorbed.  Put in a bowl to cool for five to ten minutes.












Add mustard, peanut butter powder and liquid smoke.  Add the oat flour.












Use a large scoop to make uniform patties.












Pan fry in a small amount of oil.  Cook on both sides until golden brown.












Try adding chili powder to the oil in the pan before cooking the patties, and it adds nice flavor.


Also, when shaping the final mixture, it really helps to wet your hands with a bit of water to prevent it sticking.
