Chilled Oatmeal in a Jar Recipe

Have you ever had Chilled Oatmeal? I know, "chilled" isn't the first word you'd associate with oatmeal. Most of us love our oatmeal hot, steamy, and ready to go, especially on a cold morning. Oatmeal was meant to warm our souls and get us ready for the day! So why would we screw that all up by making it "chilly," right?

What if I told you that this is an oatmeal you can make 5 days before, store in the refrigerator, and grab it each day as you walk out the door? What if I told you that you could personalize it with your favorite fillings, flavors, and freeze dried fruits? What if I said you could create a 5-day breakfast regiment in a matter of minutes? Sounds good right?

We first saw this recipe on the yummylife.com and knew that we had to pass this one on to you. Is it a pint or 1/2 pint jar---they look like 1/2 pints

Hi Barbara! They're pint jars. They're short, but stout! Haha! If you want to use 1/2 pint jars, you'd just cut the ingredients in half.

Hi Cookin' Cousins ~

This looks delicious. Can you please tell me how or when you cook this?

Perhaps you don't, but I usually can't digest uncooked grains.

Thanks!

Hi! We actually didn't cook the oats before we put them in, but you could toast the oats beforehand, or even cook them like regular oatmeal before you add them. Just make sure you drain as much excess water as you can.

Could you use the wheat flakes for these?
