Pizza Poppers Recipe

It's fall, and that can only mean one thing. Football! Yes, I know, fall is all about colorful leaves, delicious baked goods, and costumed kiddies running around the neighborhood. But it also marks the start of tailgating, pigskins, and 4th down conversions!

For guys, this may be the most wonderful time of the year, and as any football fan would tell you, it's as much about the game day snacks as it is about game day itself. Whether it's an easy-to-bake afternoon treat or a barbecuing masterpiece, each snack has as much importance to the outcome of the game as do the players! It's got to be easy, snack-size, and of course, delicious. Fear not football fans, Honeyville is here with the perfect snack for your game day celebration--Pizza Poppers! Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 cup Honeyville All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 Tbsp Chef Tess Romantic Italian Seasoning
1/4 tsp Salt
3/4 cup Milk
1 Egg
1 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Mozzarella Cheese
1/2 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Ham
1/2 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Sausage

Dipping Sauce:
1 cup Honeyville Tomato Powder
1 1/2 cups Water
3 tsp Chef Tess Romantic Italian Seasoning

Yields: 9 poppers

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, romantic Italian seasoning, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together egg and milk.

Re-hydrate mozzarella cheese by soaking it in a small bowl, then draining the excess water.

You can re-hydrate the ham and sausage the same way, together in their own bowl.

Stir in wet and dry ingredients, as well as mozzarella cheese, until completely combined.

Add ham and sausage, and mix completely.

Using a spoon, scoop spoonfuls of batter into greased muffin tins.

The batter should be just enough to make 9 poppers.

Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until tops are golden brown.

While poppers are baking, make your dip by combining tomato powder, water, and seasoning and mixing together.

When poppers are finished, remove from muffin tin and serve.

When it comes to game day snacks, these poppers are a Touchdown! They're super easy to make, bake up light and fluffy, and are packed full of flavor! The dipping sauce is the perfect compliment for these poppers. Double the amount of ingredients to make a batch big enough to feed your entire team! But beware the blitz that is sure to come when you bring these treats out of the oven!

Yes, football season is here, and these pizza poppers are exactly what you need for your game day routine!
