Delicious Shirley J's Broccoli Cheese Soup Recipe

Did you know that Shirley J's Universal Sauce has a NEW name....Whisk Bliss. I just love the new name and the new packaging. The ingredients and directions are the same. Same product, new look!
I also love Shirley J's recipes! They are easy and quick and taste yummy!

I used some Whisk Bliss and whipped up some Broccoli Cheese Soup.

1 1/2 cups of Shirley J Whisk Bliss
2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Broccoli
8 cups water
3 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Cheddar Cheese

In a large stock pot combine broccoli and 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil. Add remaining water and whisk bliss and stir well. Bring mixture back to a boil and add cheese, simmer for 3-5 minutes. 

I really enjoyed this recipe. And if you wanted you could garnish your soup with Freeze Dried Cheddar Cheese without re-hydrating it first and it adds a little crunchiness to the soup.

Chef Tess' Freezer Rolls Recipe

Back in December Chef Tess was at our Chandler, AZ store and did a fun class about Freezer Rolls.  Now I don't live in Arizona so I was totally bummed I couldn't attend but I was able to get the class notes.  Click HERE to get Chef Tess' printable copy (remember that her copyright applies so when sharing her recipes you must keep her name, contact, and website information on the recipes!). 

The printable has a couple of varieties (Cinnamon Rolls, Sticky Buns, and Dinner Rolls) I wanted to try the Freezer to Oven-Ready Dinner Roll Dough because anytime you can have homemade bread at a meal it makes me feel like I am super woman.  Her recipes are simple enough and have great results.  My kind of cooking!  Below is her original recipe and directions.  When I made them I ended up doubling the recipe so I could have some for that nights' dinner plus some in the freezer for later.

Meals in a Jar Guest Post Chef Tess

We always love when Chef Tess shares with our readers. ESPECIALLY when it has to do with Meals in a Jar!  Take it away, Chef Tess!!

I was in Utah this last week, and one of the classes I adored teaching was how to make shelf-stable meals in a jar that are good 5-7 years. This is, in fact, something I have done for my family for years. It's just a super practical way to have a "grab-n-go" meal for any occasion. Unlike other jar meals I've seen, the ones I plan are "just add water" and include the meat, veggies, sauce and all...ONE jar. One place. Grab-n-go!   These quart size jars make a meal for our family of 6 (4 adults, 2 children) and average about 9 cups of prepared food coming from the small amount of space in a quart jar. They can be made in mylar bags, but I personally prefer the jars. They're airtight, rodent proof and clear so I can tell if the food is still gorgeous. Yes, I do slip into my Hollywood fashion designer alter-ego and say, "Fabulous Darling! Fabulous!"  Yes. I realize I'm odd. Shhh. I'm happy in my delusion. It keeps me young. What was I talking about? Oh yeah...

While I was in Utah I made well over 30  meals in a jar in about an hour at my folk's house. My dad loves Italian Casserole so we made the "Baked Ziti Casserole"  in a jar. The ingredients had been sitting in the large cans for a while and I asked them why they didn't use them. "We don't want to open the big cans," was the response. So, I showed them how to make the meals custom to their needs.  We made the recipe in pint size jars (yes we cut the recipe in half) since it is just mom and dad at home now. That was the perfect size for them.  There was enough for dinner and some left over for lunches to take to work the next day. Yes...from the pint-size jar!

Almond Poppy Seed Muffin Recipe

The Great Muffin Experiment Continues!  Remember a couple weeks ago I got all "mad-scientist" and made Lemon Blueberry Mini Loaves?  Well the fun continued and I created a cousin or brother (how exactly does muffin family pedigrees work?)!  Regardless of the relationship I made Almond Poppy Seed Muffins with the remaining products:  the mix powder from Honeyville Blueberry Muffins and the poppy seeds from the Honeyville Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins and a few additions of my own.  The finished product was delightful!

Apple Pie Pancake Recipe

On Saturday mornings I like to make breakfast and have the family eat together. Usually no one is in a hurry to get to work and staying in jammies for awhile is encouraged!  I've really enjoyed Honeyville Multi-Grain Pancake Mix and thought I'd play with it and combine it with a couple other ingredients and I came up with Apple Pie Pancakes!  If you've read the blog for awhile you know I love my desserts and I love breakfast foods, so um yeah, I was excited about this concoction!
