Food Storage Friday #10: Honeyville Combo Packs; Are they worth it?

(NOTE: Honeyville Combo Packs are sold online only, not in our retail locations)

When we made the decision to begin these Food Storage Friday posts each week, we had one goal in mind. From our very beginning with our "Food Storage 101" week back in July, to our "Preparing for Disasters" posts that we've made recently, the questions we kept asking was "Is there a simple and cost effective way to better prepare ourselves and our families for the unknown?" With this question in mind, we decided to take a closer look at the combo packs we have here at Honeyville and answer some of the basic questions that come up. The point that I hope to show is how these simple products can be a quick-start to anybodies personal food storage.

What are the combo packs?

There are six types of combo packs that we offer at Honeyville. These packs consist of six cans each of our most popular products in the category the pack is in. For example, our Freeze Dried Fruit combo pack includes six cans of our most popular Freeze Dried fruit, Freeze Dried Strawberries, Blueberries, Apples, Raspberries, Bananas, and Peaches. That means you're getting six cans of our most popular product in one purchase, for a price lower than buying each can individually. We'll get to the price difference in a bit, but let's check out the combo packs first. Here are the six combo packs we offer:

Freeze Dried Fruit Combo
Freeze Dried Meat Combo
Freeze Dried Vegetable Combo
Emergency Meal Combo
Dried Dairy Combo
Flavored TVP Combo

Why should I get it?

I'm the type of person that likes to answer questions with a question, so here we go. Are you trying to find the easiest, quickest, and possibly cheapest way to build up your food storage? Than this is the choice for you. Looking at the titles of each combo pack alone shows that by purchasing these combo packs, you're going to have all your basic essentials for food storage in an instant purchase. Need to stock up on your fruits and veggies? There's a combo for that. Looking for some simple products that can work as both food storage and emergency meals? There's a combo for that. Your basic food storage needs are literally one purchase away.

The second reason you should look into combo packs is the cost. Let's take a look at our Dried Dairy Combo for instance. If you purchased the Dried Dairy Combo, you'd be paying just under $16 less than if you purchased each can individually. How about the Emergency Meal combo? All six of those cans, bought individually, still add up to over $20 more than the cost of the combo. When it comes to food storage, getting what you need for a lower price is the way to go. And why wouldn't you want to save some cash on these great items!

Is it the best option for me?

Food storage, as we've mentioned before, is a very individual process. Only you know what you and your family need. But if you're looking for a quick and easy way to build up your personal food storage, without breaking the bank, this might be the best option for you. And think of how nice your food storage shelves will look with those Honeyville boxes lined up!

I would love to see meal kits. Like the 52 meals in a jar. Since we are on limited income I can only buy a few ingredients at a time. If they all came in a kit for each recipe it would be great.
