September Classes

I can't believe it is already September! Oh how I can't wait to feel the fall weather! And next month is Halloween.....and for some reason, don't know what the reason is, but I LOVE Halloween! I am already thinking of costume ideas for my kiddos. Anyways, enough about me and how the months are flying past us here, and on to our line up of classes for September. And yes, we have some good classes lined up for you! These are taught at the Retail Stores. For you that don't live by a Retail Store, we are going to as many classes as we can and then we will type up the notes for you.

There will always be the most up to date info on our Class Tab....so you may want to check it before heading off to a class to make sure nothing has changed.

Chicken Fajita Braid

I found this recipe here and was excited to "Honeyville-ize," or food storage-ize it as Callie would say! It really was simple and super yummy! If I had to make it again I would suggest having 2 pizza crusts instead of 1. Once the veggies and chicken were rehydrated the filling went a lot farther than I thought. Anyways give it a shot and then let us know what you think; questions, opinions, suggestions, how would you change it, etc...

Ingredients:
1 large pizza crust (can or homemade)
2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Chicken
1 tsp. Chili Powder
1 clove Garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup Honeyville Dehydrated Onions
1 cup Honeyville Freeze Dried Peppers
1 cup Salsa
2 cups Honeyville Freeze Dried Monterey Jack Cheese

Creamy Cheesy Rice

Sometimes I get stuck in a rut when I am trying to figure out a side dish for a meal.  I mean you can only have plain rice or potatoes so many days a week before it gets a little blah and boring.  Okay sometimes even just once a week of plain rice is a little boring.  I had some chicken I need to use so my go to dish would be rice, but I needed to vamp it up somehow, someway.  I searched the internet for some sort of rice dish and found this on cooks.com.  I tweaked some things and incorporated my food storage and was pleasantly pleased at the results!

Baked Scones

A while back Callie posted about our delicious scones. Seriously, I LOVE our scones! My most favorite thing to do with them is to make Navajo Tacos....yum, yum! Anyway, people always ask us if our scones can be baked because on the package it only says how to deep fry them. The answer is YES! Super easy too. The package instructions say:

1. Dissolve 2 1/2 tsp or 1/4oz. packet of dry active yeast in 1 cup warm water
2. Add 3 cups of Honeyville Farms Premium Scone Mix
3. Knead until smooth and elastic, cover and rest for 20 minutes
4. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick, cut out scones to desired shape and size.
